Full system NSF Certified to Standards 42, 53 and 401. Certified to reduce over 60 other contaminants. Short filter life lasts 100 gallons. Frequent filter changes drive up ongoing cost. Bulky on faucet design takes up sink space.

Overview

From the manufacturer

With MAXION® filter technology and tool-free installation, the new PUR Advanced Faucet Filtration System works hard to keep your water clean and tasting great. The CleanSensor™ Monitor visibly indicates filter status, making it easy to maintain healthy and safe drinking water straight from your faucet while its space-saving horizontal design looks great in any kitchen.
  • Certified to remove 99% of Lead and over 70 other contaminants, including 96% of Mercury and 92% of certain pesticides
  • Includes one MineralClear® Filter
  • Compatible with standard faucets. Will not work with pull-out or handheld faucets.

Tip:

Changing your water filter regularly is crucial when it comes to removing contaminants, because a clean filter means clean water. It is recommended that faucet filters be replaced every 100 gallons or every three months to maintain maximum contaminant removal.

Outstanding water filtration, horrible filter housing. PUR is FLOODING AMAZON WITH "PAID" REVIEWS--be careful!

This review is from: PUR PFM400H Chrome Horizontal Faucet Mount with 1 Mineral Clear Filter (Tools & Home Improvement)
At this moment 13 OUT OF 25 "TOP" reviewers got a FREE UNIT IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR "REVIEW"-----anytime you see that kind of pattern, be very careful about trusting what you read. Instead, listen to people like me--I have owned PUR Filters since the 1990's, and still do, and so can give you an honest review based on roughly TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF USE.

I can remember, for example, when PUR sold an ACTUAL STAINLESS STEEL MODEL that retailed for double the other models and was built like a tank. Sadly, those days are long gone.

PROS: The actual water filtration is outstanding and without a doubt the best faucet mounted filtering you can buy. Which is why I still use PUR

CONS: They are absolutely pieces of plastic junk that will break if you bump them or sneeze too loud. If you get one year of life you are lucky. When PUR changed their manufacturing to the cheapest quality (15+ some odd years ago) they had this weird informal "exchange" system where if you called and said your unit/cracked/leaked/exploded/whatever they would send you a new one with NO questions asked--a tacit admission that their manufacturing standards were laughable but that they knew their money was in filter sales. That seemed an odd but fair arrangement to me and I had literally 10+ units replaced based on a phone call. THEY DONT DO THIS ANYMORE, but their manufacturing is as bad as ever.

So why do I give one star when I continue to use the product after so many years and when there isnt a competitor that delivers the same level, of filtration? Two reasons: 1) the fact that WELL OVER HALF THE "TOP REVIEWERS" on Amazon were given free units in exchange for their "feedback" is a HUGE red flag--I mean if its a few paid reviewers I dont mind, but this level of "Vine reviewers who received a free unit" suggests the company is intentionally FLOODING the site with paid reviews. Again HUGE RED FLAG (2) the filter's housing remain pieces of plastic crap.

Sadly, I am about to buy yet another PUR unit after one year--the duct tape isnt working anymore.I wish there was an honest competitor that offered this same level of water filtration but there isnt so we are stuck with an increasingly dishonest company that knows it builds pieces of plastic crap but doesnt care. At least the people who manufacture the actual internal water filters are honest and care about producing a decent product, unlike the rest of their company.

Non-replaceable battery kills the wow factor!, December 28, 2016

This review is from: PUR PFM800HX Chrome Horizontal Faucet Mount with Bluetooth and 1 Mineral Clear Filter (Tools & Home Improvement)
Cons:
A non-replaceable battery - eventually the filter indicator and the bluetooth (if you have one) will stop working. Filtration will continue.

Pros:
Filters water.. but that is its' job, right?
